The original Australian Chow Chow Club which was formed in 1934, was known as the
CHOW CHOW CLUB OF AUSTRALIA.
The first Open Parade of this Club was held at the home of the late Sir Robert Helpman in 1940.
At the end of WW11, the Chow Chow Club and the Saint Bernard Club combined in a joint effort to create their first Championship Show.
The Club lost their Championship status in 1969 when only 5 dogs were shown at their
Championship Show of that year. The Club was then reverted to a social club.
In 1973 the newly formed Chow Chow Club of Victoria held their first Open Parade.
The only other State in Australia to have an affiliated Club is New South Wales.
